Located in the Opportunity Zone. Blackbeard's Castle is a popular site for tourists and visitors. 9 hotel rooms, restaurant, bar and a very large pool. Skytsborgtarn, meaning sky tower, was built in 1679 to protect Fort Christian against invaders by land from the north and as a vantage point to spot enemy ships approaching the harbor from the south. In the 18th century the tower became the centerpiece of a private residence and was owned in turn by an Irish colonist, a French merchant and a Danish harbor captain who used the top the tower as his private observatory. Skytsborg is one of five National Historic Landmarks on the US Virgin Islands and one of the few seventeenth century fortified towers in the Caribbean. THIS INCLUDES BRITANNIA HOUSE AND THE THREE QUEENS STATUES AND PARKING Brittania House was built in 1847 by Edward B. Simmons, this is one of the few remaining wooden residences from that period.Brittania House gets its name from the subsequent owner, Robert Boyd Lamb, Her Britannic Majesty's Consulon the Island of St. Thomas. Lamb purchased the property and adjacent garden plot in 1858 and lived there with his family until 1869 when it was sold to James Donald Lamb.
